So very thankful.

I’m not really sure how to split up these posts, so I’m going to just post more than one in a day!

So Thursday was Landon’s first Thanksgiving. It seems like not so long ago that I was pregnant, and picturing what that day would be like with an actual 10 month old. It seemed so surreal that I would actually be sharing the holiday with my child! Pregnancy is like that though, it just doesn’t seem real!!!

Here’s a pic taken last Thanksgiving break when Mr. Hubby and I went to New York. Yep Landon, you’ve been to New York City when mommy was 7 months preggo with you. Let’s just say it was a rough trip… but Landon loved music even then! He kicked and squirmed during the entire Lion King broadway show!

So here was the day that I had been picturing for the past year. Thanksgiving with my own little family. Landon woke up pretty cheerful. We spent the morning and afternoon playing, snacking on treats, and making desserts!

Here’s Landon playing hide n seek with his papa.

I made a John Davis pie that I had found on an amazing blog that I love called Wearing Gackey's Apron. I’ve found so many great recipes there. They turned out very pretty if I do say so myself!

I also made a Pumpkin Crunch cake that I found on Pinterest. I think it’s going to be a keeper! So easy and so yummy! Even Mr. Hubby, (who I should totally rename Mr. Picky) liked it!

Landon started to get a little cranky by the afternoon. He had several little melt-downs and just seemed kind of tired. So I tried to keep him entertained on the floor with some of his favorite toys. Don’t you just love his shirt? I couldn’t find a Thanksgiving shirt in his size, but I loved the colors of this plaid shirt. It screamed fall to me. Gotta have my baby dressed for the seasons!!!

This kid loves computers! And let me tell ya, if he sees one, he’s going to go after it!

Uh…oh… am I not supposed to be doing that?!

hi there

with my daddy

Now, the actual Thanksgiving dinner wasn’t quite what I had envisioned. The food was amazing, the desserts were delicious, but some extra extended family came at the last minute, so Landon, Mr. Hubby and I weren’t able to eat at the table. I was so busy with my food on my lap, that I completely for got to snap some pics of Landon! I’m kicking myself now, but that’s okay. We had fun snapping some pictures after our bellies were all full!

Daddy decided it was fun to put a cool whip tub on Landon’s head, and we all had a great time watching him try to pull it off!

What is this thing on my head?!?!

Landon at 8 Months!

Okay, time to get caught up on month 8 of Landon’s little life! Can’t believe how fast these months just fly by. Slow down little boy, slow down!

At eight months, Landon loved making loud “grrrrr” noises and flexing his little arms.

grrrr

Pretty stinkin cute! Landon would sit and play, but still wasn’t quite feeling tummy time, but it was getting better! He actually started staying on his belly longer, and pushing his little arms up. Tummy time is lasting 15-20 minutes now!

Here’s a picture of Landon first thing in the morning. He’s definitely not a morning person like his mama!

One big thing that happened this month was the first appearance of TEETH!!! Landon had been acting super cranky for a week or two, and I suspected that something was up. He seemed to want to naw on things more than usual and was acting weird! He would wake up in the middle of the night crying, and I thought he might be teething.

teething

One day, when I went to pick him up at daycare, Mrs. Brenda (his daycare teacher) asked if I had noticed that his bottom two teeth were coming in. I was a little caught off guard. I wasn’t even sure which teeth were supposed to come in first, and even thought I had suspected that he could be teething, I didn’t really know that it was actually happening! I felt kinda bad that she had noticed it before me. I felt his gums, and sure enough, you could feel the teeth trying to come through. So month 8 was a big month for Landon!

Here’s Landon with his first two teeth!!!

Landon is still a very happy baby! He’s very easily entertained, and loves playing with leaves and being outside.

Landon also started wearing 9 and some 12 month clothes. Such a big boy. I had to box up a lot of his 6 month clothes this month because he had outgrown them all.

parklooking

We started giving Landon some puffs and textured baby foods this month. He doesn’t like them at all! He’ll play with the puffs and occasionally try to put them in this mouth, but gags on them quite a bit. I found textured baby foods at the store that was a little chunkier than normal baby food. He doesn’t do well with those either! He gags on every bite. He’s still not  very interested in the food that we eat yet.

Landon tried clapping his hands this month. He can’t quite do it the right way though! He’ll clap his little fist into his other hand. He loves patty cake and he still loves music!

Landon’s little hand. Perfect.

Landon also tried waving bye-bye for the first time this month. He waved his whole arm and he did it twice in one day!

Fall has begun, the weather was starting to get cooler, and it’s my favorite time of year. I had to make sure that we got a pic of Landon’s little feet with the autumn leaves!

Landon’s favorite words are still “da-da”. He understands that “ba-ba” is talking about his bottle.

I love this 8 month old little cutie pie!!!!

Twas the night before Thanksgiving…

Can I just start off by saying that I LOVE Thanksgiving break!? It’s been so great so far! Let me fill you in on some of the fun details!

Monday

On Monday, my friend Sarah and I had our very own relaxing day of pamperage! We dropped the babies off at daycare bright and early (hey, we had to pay them anyway right?!), and headed off to Starbucks to get a little breakfast, and then on to the nail place to get some manicures and pedicures.

I embarrassingly hadn’t had a pedicure since May, and it was much needed! I love my baby boy, but sometimes I miss being able to take care of myself too.

After we were all fixed up, we headed to get some lunch. We chose a restaurant that our hubbies don’t like, and enjoyed being able to take our time and enjoy a meal out. I had so much fun, and it was definitely much needed!

When lunch was over, I headed over to get my 10-month old at daycare! That’s right! I now have a 10-month old child. We celebrated by going to the doctor. Landon has had an ear infection that won’t seem to go away, and bronchitis on top of that. He’s been one sick little boy lately. I’ve been pretty miserable too. I hate forcing the medicine down, giving him breathing treatments,  and watching him try to wiggle away from me screaming when I suction out his nose. No FUN at ALL! Unfortunately, he still has the ear infection and hasn’t gotten much better. BOO!

Poor baby getting his breathing treatment.

Tuesday

Yesterday, I spent the morning of my vaca at the dentist. EW! I almost backed out of going a few times, but Mr. Hubby made sure that I went. Bless his heart, he had to put up with me acting like a big ole’ baby. I seriously hate the dentist. I’m being completely honest when I say that I’d rather give birth than go. I haven’t gone in years, and I knew that I needed to get some work done. Mr. Hubby made me an appointment, and even drove me there. I love how he takes care of me. It wasn’t really as bad as I thought it’d be. I do have to go back the first day of Christmas break to get some things done. Not looking forward to that.

After the dentist, Mr. Hubby and I headed over to Tyler to do some Christmas shopping! Our first stop was Babies R’ Us. I couldn’t wait to head down those toy aisles and find some toys for Landon’s very first Christmas! I actually got a little overwhelmed trying to pick out the perfect toys. I know it was silly, but I started worrying about his presents. Would he really enjoy them? Are these the perfect ones? Am I getting to many? Am I not getting him enough??? Now, I know that he’ll only be 11 months old, and the box and wrapping paper will probably make him completely happy, so I’m not sure what came over me! I guess I just want everything to be perfect. I’ve been picturing his first Christmas since I found out I was pregnant. I found some pretty cool presents for him though, and I just can’t wait to see his face when he opens them! I love having someone to spoil!

That evening we went to my mom’s to have an early Thanksgiving dinner. She wanted to have one for Jamie since she was going to be with her dad over Thanksgiving, so we went to visit and of course EAT!

Here’s Landon looking so cute and wearing his new Puma shoes that his daddy picked out for him!

Wednesday

Today, Landon and I went to visit Adley! She’s my friend Megan’s little girl and she’s so cute! Landon and Adley were baby talking to each other back and forth, and Landon tried grabbing her feet and hands a few times. It was pretty darn adorable.

landonadley

Oh, and here’s proof that my child CAN hold his own bottle. That kiddo is so spoiled. I used to try and try to make him hold his bottle and he REFUSED! I knew he could do it because I saw him once. But when I’d try, he’d pout and cry and open his mouth for me to feed him. Well last week, I saw him holding his own bottle when I walked up. My mouth dropped! He was so good at it! After staring at him for a good 5 minutes, I decided that Landon was going to start feeding himself from them on. He’s really become a pro, if he wasn’t already. That boy can be soooo lazy… geez!

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving, and I’m so thrilled to be spending it with my little family. Life is so much better than I could have ever imagined. It’s not perfect, but it’s ours, and I love it.

P.S. I know I haven’t blogged about Month 8 yet! Hopefully I’ll get caught up soon!!!

Bad BAd BAD MOMMY!!!

What a bad, bad mommy blogger I’ve been! I feel so awful! This blog is eventually going to become a blog book, and I haven’t written a darn thing in months! Landon, if you read this one day… just know that your mommy totally puts the PRO in PROcrastination. I’m probably the worst. Ya know when you get so behind on something, it makes it really hard it pick it back up again. That’s kinda what happened to this little ole’ blog. School started, my days and evenings got busier,  and I’m usually passed out by 9:00. I can’t miss out on some sleep. It’s something I definitely treasure since becoming a mommy.

So, to right my wrongs, and to fix the many months of my precious child’s life that I haven’t blogged about, I’ve decided to spend the next few days catching up on the past few months. It’s the perfect time too! It’s Thanksgiving break, and my itty bitty turns 10 months tomorrow! Oh MY GOODNESS! The last time I wrote… he was only 6 MONTHS OLD! That makes me feel so sad. Time is going by too fast.

So let’s start covering the past few months. We’ll start with Landon at 7 months.

Tales of a 7 month old

When I left off, school was just about to start. Well let me tell you, I had only thought that things were about to get crazy. I was getting all ready for the first day of school. My classroom was all ready, and I felt ready to tackle a classroom full of six year olds by day, and a 7 month old and Mr. Hubby by night. But that’s when Landon started feeling bad. Now, it’s usually hard for me to get sleep the night before school starts, but I never expected to be up with a sick baby!

Landon had his first fever, and Mr. Hubby and I were completely freaking out! We had no idea what to do. How high was too high?! Did we need to take his clothes off? Should we put him in the bath? Give him medicine?Take him to the emergency room?! Mr. Hubby ran over to get his mom, and she thankfully told us what to do.

Everything turned out fine in the end. Nannie (Landon’s great grandma) said that she’d keep him for the day since I couldn’t send him to daycare. But man, what a time for his first fever! I felt a lot of mommy guilt at school that first day. I hated seeing Landon sick and wished I could have stayed home and cuddled with him, but I just couldn’t miss the first day of school.

Sweet baby sleeping

Something that also stands out, is Landon’s appointment to check on his little flat head. His pediatrician noticed that his head was still a little flat in the back, and recommended that he see someone about it. Now I totally feel a ton of guilt about this. I was a terrified new parent, and I was SO scared I was going to hurt my baby if I put him on his belly. That SIDS stuff is no joke, and I probably was a little irrational. If I could go back in time, I’d put him to sleep at night on his back, but the rest of the time, he’d be on his belly!

burprag

So anyways, I took him to the people that make helmets for babies (just to see what they’d say), and they told me that they recommended that he get one.

I WAS. IN. SHOCK! Going into the appointment, I really thought that they’d say that it wasn’t that bad! So I was all prepared to get him one, when they told me that he’d have to wear it 23 hours a day for at least THREE MONTHS! Uh… NO WAY! I just couldn’t picture putting my perfectly happy baby in one of those yucky helmets all day and all night. Especially considering that it was still 104 degrees outside! Mr. Hubby wasn’t on board with it either. They said that if we couldn’t commit to keeping him in the helmet for that long, then it wasn’t worth even getting it. So we didn’t.

It was a really hard decision that I hope we don’t regret later. His head really is rounding out a lot now anyway, but I still feel bad.

We also went on another little trip to Galveston on Labor Day weekend.

Landon was all ready to go!

packin up

This time with went with my in-laws, and did a little travel trailer camping by the beach. The weather was a little weird that weekend. The wind was blowing like crazy, so going to the beach meant that you’d end up with quite a bit of sand in your eyes, ears and mouth. I literally had to cover Landon up completely with a blanket to keep the sand from getting all over him!

And it rained! But we still had a nice time. We were able to eat some yummy seafood, do a little shopping, and Mr. Hubby and I got to have a few baby-less outings to go to the movies and play miniature golf. Lots of fun!

Here’s my little Superman all ready for the beach in his new swim clothes!

So Landon’s 7th month was filled with lots of fun and new adventures.

Here are some things that I remember about Landon at 7 months old:

~He started making this weird clicking noise with his mouth, and he’d giggle whenever you’d do it back at him.

~He started growling and saying “RAWR!” (very cute and funny)

~He eats all different kinds of baby foods! Still prefers veggies over fruits.

~He threw up the turkey baby food that I gave him to try.

~Still a happy baby!

~Is very grumpy when he wakes up in the morning! He usually cries as soon as he wakes up!

~Says “dada” nonstop. I miss hearing “mama”!

~We finally gave up the nap nanny, and started putting Landon to sleep in his pack n play. This was so hard for us, but Landon did great! The nap nanny was starting to get a little dangerous. One morning I woke up, and he was totally hanging out of it!

Here are some other random pics for Landon’s 7th month!

I just had to snap this next picture. I was trying to get ready for school, and he was just looking over staring at me. Just presh!!!!

This kiddo is tolerating tummy time a little more each day. This is one of my favorite pics of him. He just looks so stinkin’ cute!

And last but not least, a sleeping pic. Now Landon was in a different position when we laid him down. It’s always fun to see what new position he’s in in the morning! That boy moves like nobody’s business! Such a sweetheart.

Well, that about wraps up the major events in Landon’s 7th month. I wish I would have documented it sooner, but better late than never. Speaking of awesome things that happened in month 7,  props to Mr. Hubby who ran his first 10k and got 11th place out of over 200! Umm, can you say awesome!? I’m a pretty proud wife, and I’m sure Landon would be very proud of his daddy too!

On a side note, today was Landon’s last day to be 9 months old. He had a great time seeing his Aunt JayJay and Uncle Scotty who came to visit this weekend. He made some yucky faces when I got him to try some gravy at breakfast, and he spent a good 45 minutes sitting outside on the sidewalk playing with leaves. That boy loves him some leaves!

Stay tuned for Month Eight tomorrow! Ahhh, it feels so good to be getting caught up! Love you Landon!
